This DJ blame game unfair as hypocrites try to make them scapegoats over prank call (google the title) Uh-huh. One never quite knows which way bolta will jump. I don't recall kyle sandilands ever getting the "back off" defence. He was more the "barbarian" sort. I actually agree with (most of) that article. But, then, I also thought that p-ssy riot deserved to be defended against being being crucified (metaphorically, obviously) for the edification of the russian orthodox church. Their crime was to sing and dance in a church - two of them are in the gulag now. The best I could see from bolta was "But do I think they should be jailed? No"But I'm not entirely sure who is trying to do this scapegoating. The coverage I've seen in the mainstream press has been fairly level-headed. The media seems to "get" that the presenters are horrified by what happened. Nobody's doubting that. What people are saying on twitter might be different, but ... so what? That's twitter. It has no authority. Bolta also seems to be a bit concerned that ACMA wants to investigate: This is a classic example of regulators doing exactly what’s not required, given the public has already sorted this out and the broadcasters couldn’t feel more sorry Er ... wha?!? Maybe an ACMA response is just what the doctor ordered - after all, it IS a response, and it's a far less abusive one than anything those amassed scapegoaters might demand otherwise. If ever there was a need to take a peek at procedures, maybe this is it? Finally ... let's compare some statements: Let's see if Greig and Christian now crack, too. Is that the game?Vs: - For a man allegedly too suicidal for scrutiny, Craig Thomson doesn’t mind drawing attention to himself with a political stunt- Labor wouldn’t lie in playing the stop-or-he’ll-kill-himself excuse, would it?- If Thomson is really so fragile that he cannot be help to account, then he must resign. But Labor instead whips up the too-suicidal-to-punish defence- Labor is playing a reckless game of suicide bluff over Craig Thomson.I think there are more, but I better get on with the day. Google any of those to find the original articles.

Oh, and bolt still doesn't (apparently) get the point of a carbon price. It's not to make electricity more expensive - it's to make the _emissions_ more expensive. So a source of electricity that emits less carbon becomes relatively more competitive. Oh, I give up. I don't really think he's that daft. I think he just thinks we are. He doesn't get it because it is not an important problem in his view, and by extension, the view of his readers and many of his fellow trollumnists. He's a self identifying 'luke warmist', although he doesn't mention it much. It's a useless tax to him and probably a smoke screen for Labor to grab cash. Has he critiqued the Libs version of co2 emission reduction plans? Where does he think the money to pay industry to reduce pollution come from? Will it come from savings the Libs will make one in power? Is Bolt privvy to Abbotts plans once the Libs get in charge of the controls? Maybe the plan is to quietly shelve any climate change action until China,US,India,Canada et al make a move.....

...As in, hold the two of them up to an intense public shaming....
....Nor is the fight fair. The louts are prepared, but their victims not. It's an ambush. It's bullying...
.......this was priceless entertainment for their braying and whinnying audience. And not just their own.....
.....Cue the outrage. The "blood on their hands" fury of commentators. The tens of thousands of furious tweets. The messages, some disgusting vile and abusive, on the 2Day FM website.
......"I'd like to see involuntary manslaughter charges against them," said one of the more civilised contributions..
......No advertisers boycotted Fox FM's top-rating Hamish and Andy for their own series of calls.
......No one demanded the sacking of Matt Tilley for his four albums of "gotcha calls" for Fox, one nominated for the 2006 ARIA Awards.
......To be guilty of bad taste is one thing but to be held guilty of manslaughter is a monstrously unfair other, and makes the finger pointers seem hypocrites.....Keep on screaming "blood on their hands".
A few things to keep in mind when reading Bolts DJ shaming article.... I think it's another case of calling hypocrite first for mr Bolt. 1. Intense public shaming? I think Bolt has been guilty of that, maybe in the court of law as well. 2.not a fair fight? Bolt has many venues to attack those he doesn't agree with, as much as he tries to play the martyr. He's a big fan of 'gotcha!'isms , I think he did one on the Bolt Report when trying to nail Albanese on temp rise/fall numbers he went on Andrews sow. 3. Braying and whining audience? Check, look at Andrews commenters 4. 'blood on their hands' .?... Anyone remember 'how many pensioners must die?' 5. Others have done similar? Has Andy checked to see if Hamish and Andy or Matt Tilley got permission to broadcast their pranks? Andy taking the high moral ground is not unexpected but his lack of self awareness is monumental

"I think it's another case of calling hypocrite first for mr Bolt" Keeping in mind that I basically agree with him (mostly) about the prank call, I'd like to add one observation. Today: The Langton law: first to say “racist” losesOk. Let's test thatMeanwhile ... surely this is a joke. It has to be a joke. He can't seriously believe that this wouldn't have happened with ye-olde family values from the 50's? How many of us helped let loose the social constraints - not least marriage - that bred such evil?
DEPRAVED triple killer Leslie Alfred Camilleri might just be the devil incarnate behind three horrific murders.
A notorious monster condemned to die in jail, Camilleri was a street-level Svengali who broke the monotony of his aimless existence by jamming amphetamines up his arm…
The murder of 13-year-old Prue Bird in 1992 appears to have stirred Camilleri’s want for perverse power over girls.
It culminated in a crime that still rates as one of the nation’s most horrific.
He and Beckett subjected Bega schoolgirls Lauren Barry, 14, and Nichole Collins, 16, to 12 hours of rape and terror that ended in the most brutal of deaths in 1997…
As Supreme Court Justice Frank Vincent would later say: “It is not difficult to see the origins of your anger and social alienation.’’
One of six children, Camilleri did not know his father until age 13.
He had no home life due to his mother’s personal problems and gained no formal education.
An illiterate, he spent time in a boys’ home and, after being accused of burning down a school classroom, was declared “uncontrollable’’ and absconded.
Between the ages of 10 to 12 Camilleri lived on the streets around Kings Cross. No father present. And in their place abandonment, drugs and porn. Far out. Because NOTHING like this ever happened before no-fault divorce, right? And there were no drugs to be had before the 60's. Except for all the opiates, amphetamines and cocaine, I mean. I suspect that the problem with that family wasn't the prevailing social zeitgeist. Unbelievable.

a·his·tor·i·cal (h-stôr-kl, -str-) adj. Unconcerned with or unrelated to history, historical development, or tradition: "All of this is totally ahistorical. There is virtually no evidence in the historical record to support any of it" (Heritage Foundation Reports). Which bit of Keatings speech is not related to history?

Yes the Australian Heritage Foundation, A front for the League of Rights. That led to Keating's and Beazley's devastating attack on Hewson thus his exit from Lib leadership.
Ah - the good old days!
Would that we had a Keating in this day!

"After 16 years of no warming Monckton returns" A lie to announce a con man. "you might have found an October 13, 2012 article suggesting that global warming stopped 16 years ago. The article is here. David Rose of the Daily Mail wrote it. The article says the UK Met Office sent out a news release release saying its data showed that global warming has stopped and that there is no “discernible rise in aggregate global temperatures.” It now comes to light that this information is not true. The UK Met Office did not release a statement suggesting that “global warming stopped 16 years ago.” The UK Met Office, in fact, disavows any association with Mr. Rose and his article and says it was never asked any questions regarding the actual science of climate change and global warming by Mr. Rose. On October 14, 2012 – one day after Mr. Rose’s article appeared in the Daily Mail – the UK Met Office released its own blog post discussing the issues with the Daily Mail article. It’s very interesting reading." earthsky.org/earth/uk-met-office-responds-global-warming-did-not-stop-16-years-ago

re: the decline of family values leading to serial killers.
In WW1 drugs were not regulated. Hence you could go to Harrods in London and buy a 'drug kit' to send to your loved ones on the front. It contained heroin, cocaine and needles.
“In London in 1916, Harrods were selling a kit described as "A Welcome Present for Friends at the Front" containing cocaine, morphine, syringes and needles.”
Heroin was developed by Bayer from morphine and so named because it made users feel "heroic". You could get it over the counter at many chemists.

It only occured to me after posting, that the reference to marriage could have been an attempt at a dog-whistle. But I don't even want to go there.

Meth, or perhaps amphetamines, were developed during or before ww2 to keep soldiers awake, aggressive and capable of fighting long, physically demanding battles in trying conditions.
There was a glut post ww2 and as a result they were prescribed for all sorts of stuff during the 50s.
perhaps that explains the craziness of that decade in the West. And the paranoia. "Reds under the Bed" McCarthyism and the like.

Gillard and the Sexism Card today from Andy. Talking to mummy bloggers could be seen as playing the pink card, but more likely it is a way for Labor to talk to potential voters directly. Few things at play here, to my mind. 1. Gillards team may feel that positive messages delivered through MSM will get a negative spin. MSM seems more interested in the 'sizzle' of politics rather than the meat and veg. 2. Relating to the above point, cut out the middle man message delivery and go straight to those who speak to a particular group (this case, women) and seem companionable and normal.
If it works, great. Andy, is that any different from tony donning the glo-vest and decrying great big new taxes to working class people? Does tony have a Flouro Card in play? Does Flouro Card trump the Sexism Card?
Andy uses the word sexism rather freely. Other words he uses too much are: Smear Leftist Totalitarian Barbarian Teh Left ABC AWU Hypocrite/s
Can you think of any more?

The words “reasonably likely” mean that the test for offence, humiliation and intimidation must be an objective one. It is a question of fact in every case, depending on the context in which the allegedly offensive comments were made. Where do we start? Andy thinks that one of his older white male commenters has been racially vilified because Christine Milne said a part of the group of people have been actively oppressing women, blah blah blah.... He posted the complaint and the reply and complimented the complainer. The quote above pretty much explains why Milne didn't offend anyone. First world problems: old white guys feeling oppressed
