Donkey Love correction - except that one of the justifications given is that it helps prevent homosexuality, and makes your penis bigger. And they're all fine upstanding Catholics, so I sure Tony will be fully supportive.
Gives the story of Balaam's ass a whole new twist.

Cool interview. Colbert interviews Neil deGrasse Tyson.
Entertaining and interesting, for us non-astronomers.

Enjoy the wisdom of the great Will Rogers.
"There are three kinds of men. The one that learns by reading. The few who learn by observation. The rest of us have to pee on the electric fence for ourselves. "

Just having a look at the pull factor for this morning, I see that the usual suspect is peddling some very unfortunate conflation of two events last week, and their causes.
Nobody of sound mind is blaming the premeditated attacks and murders of US embassy officials on this stupid film. Well, nobody except certain people who have an interest in blaming those deaths on a global muslim backlash against "debate". Those attacks appear to have been deliberate. Maybe they knew the riots were coming and used them as cover, maybe not.
As far as I can tell, General Martin Dempsey is not making that mistake. That doesn't seem to be stopping the assertion-based community from putting those words in his mouth, though.
Unfortunately I don't have time this morning to get stuck into the full range of crap Over There. Maybe tonight.

ACA has just covered Unique Water again - Paul Sheehan's favourite woo woo.
It's still going strong apparently. It's now been subject to medical testing. The results? Water is good for you. That's plain old ordinary water. Yes. Unique water has a bit more magnesium and bicarb (like most mineral water), but that's it.
Can't wait for Sheehan to fess up he'd been had.

This is astonishing. If only the walls could talkThat's a threat, from the national broadsheet, telling the political party in government to call off questions about the opposition leader lest they ... what, lose their objectivity or something? I honestly wonder what these guys are prepared to do this time around to ensure the "correct" outcome.

Trust Cory Bernardi.
"Senator Cory Bernardi says accepting same-sex marriage will normalise bestiality. NORMALISING same-sex marriage will lead to demands that bestiality and multiple spouses be accepted, says Liberal Senator Cory Bernardi.
The Senator said that the campaign for same-sex marriage was "another tear in the fabric of our social mores."
Speaking on a gay marriage Bill in Federal Parliament last night, Mr Bernardi said: "Time and time again the same characters seek to tear down our institutions that have been built and have sustained our civilisation for thousands of years. The time has come to ask: when will it end?
"What is the next step?"
Donkey Love of course.

Aww - Bernardi has been sacked. But he was good. Almost up to Fielding standards.
Sorely missed

Bolt really sticks the boot in, describing Bernardi's comments as "clumsy" and "provocative"... Interestingly, Bolt thinks the "ZOMG! PEOPLE MARRYING THEIR PETS!" slippery slope is offensive, but the "ZOMG! GROUP MARRIAGES!" slippery slope is entirely valid. The thing is, they're pretty much the same argument - If we allow X, supposedly we will be powerless to prevent Y.

Shanahan comes out today in guarded support of Marr in the Oz.
"The first news report of Marr's 33,000-word Abbott essay in The Sydney Morning Herald on September 8 went straight to "the punch" incident and described it as a "hugely damaging allegation" for a political leader "still struggling to gain traction with female voters". Marr's remaining 32,650 words of thoughtful analysis and conclusion that Abbott was an "unlikely leader" heading to a "magnificent victory" were secondary to the new expose of his trouble with women...Marr remains optimistic, telling The Australian: "An essay of this kind is a thoughtful and complex work and it takes time to be absorbed.""
I wonder what Sheridan thinks? With friends like these...?

www.abc.net.au/news/2012-09-20/abbott-renews-calls-for-bali-bombing-compensation/4272098So ... the libs were in power until 2007. They had 6 years to set up a compensation fund for victims of terrorism but had no interest. The government passes some legislation and suddenly the libs are all over it. As for the argey bargey about it. Sheesh - tony gets some political points from acknowledging a terrorist event, nicola roxon's accused of politicising THAT and being part of a parade of women accusing tony abbott of this and that. And who's accusing her? Why, it's julie bishop. I hope we get over this phase.

I wonder if he got all shouty again?
I'm still getting over the ABC being called sectarian.
