Am I being a bit psycho, or is that one of the best music-vids ever produced? And who can you recognise?
I can see Manson, Mode, hell even Johnny Depp, Jesus (of course), the Queen, ZZ Top - ?

The Curti coronial inquiry criticises the police.
Maybe tasering someone 14 times who was on an LSD trip didn't kill him. But it's not good practice.
Expect howls of outrage from The Right.
"What? Can't we let the police fuck the buggers?"
Wanna guess the subbies headlines?

Why do Intertnety debates have to be so antagonistic? Can't we sometimes agree to disagree, or at least be nice to each other when we have a different point of view?'
Hell, if you were in a pub...

"Hell, if you were in a pub..."
That would be a problem straight away ...
This smear on gillard is becoming astonishing. There actually have been a couple of things that I would be curious to hear answers about. But I can see how there could be innocent answers just as easily as crooked ones. This latest 5000$ claim is absurd. Leaving aside any motives for alleging it ... so what? So he was paying her back some money he borrowed, or owed for for some other thing. Or ... it's not actually even true.
The power of attorney thing is interesting. I have a theory about that one, and it's based on the fact that the allegation coming from one party makes no sense. It makes no sense to me how or why gillard would have done what he's suggesting - and that the supposed USE for this power of attorney wouldn't have actually been possible, given the timeline proposed. And that's leaving aside the question of why he ever signed the thing in the first place. And there's one other very obvious possibility. And that's all I'll say about that.
On the one hand we have somebody who has always said, and continues to say, that she has done nothing wrong. she says this unequivocally, and dares her opponents to make one single direct allegation.
On the other hand we have a bunch of people with obvious political intent and purpose, who run a trickle of half-suggestions, isolated tidbits of possibility, claim to have access to slam-dunk witnesses who won't talk, but will insinuate. They sex up and beat up things which have no particular significance and declare that "questions need to be answered". But won't say what the questions are. This is all being run through the nation's largest news publisher, which has a clear (and I believe stated) desire that the government change at the next election. And it's all being done for the benefit of an opposition which is therefore able to keep its hands clean, and jeer about a culture of personal politics and character assassinations on the part of the people they're engaged in smearing,
Who are we to believe? Hmm. That's a tough one.
I'm pretty sure of one thing, though. Tony abbott won't be able to govern without the say-so of rupert murdoch if he wins the next election. Rupe will have made him, and rupe will be able to bring him down. And if nothing else worries the australian voter ... that really should.
Meanwhile, I see that the gillard's approval rating is climbing. I guess 8 months of horseshit and no pony starts to make even the most jaded punter start to wonder.

I have to chuckle at romney's holler-back about "gifts" buying obama the election.
Obama actually got FEWER votes in 2012 than he did in 2008 - by about 5 million. So why didn't the reps pick up those votes? Did obama's "gifts" convince 5 million people not to vote at all?
It's silly - the basic issue is that obama went and did what he said he would do. Health care and contraception were policies going into the LAST election. These weren't surprise issues. The job of republicans is to come up with a strategy that addresses things like that. So NOW romney tells his backers that they never stood a chance? You guys blew a trillion dollars on that campaign ... you didn't think to do some polling? Maybe a focus group or two?
I think the republicans should totally pursue this line of attack, though. Keep telling the majority of voting americans that they're freeloaders, that they're not worth taking into account. Keep doing that, guys. Whatever you do, don't take into account the possibility that these policies are things that voters actually _want_. Just keep hitting them with a stick. That'll do nicely.

The SMH has a rubbish article this morning about oldies selling their drugs for profit.
Their evidence?
"an elderly palliative care patient recently admitted to selling his drugs to boost his income"
ONE person? And it's worthy of a story shitting on 'old people'?
And they even invent an offensive term - 'fossil pharming'.
This is crap worthy of News Ltd.
Disclaimer - I'm 60 and I don't sell my Paracetamol to anyone!

I'm sure I read a similar sort of claim back in the 90's. Can't remember where.
It's always _possible_, of course. But most drugs aren't actually the sort that make you big or small[1]. If somebody's actually flogging strong painkillers for money, then they're lying to their doctor or willing to actually put up with the pain in order to, say, eat.

I don't get it. Why did hamas go and poke a stick in the hornet's nest right before an israeli election?
Yes, they do pretty much always send rockets and mortars over the border, but this time they really did put in that extra effort and land their tubes in major cities. Their rockets are useless, tactically - they're not defensive (they can't hit anything), they only exist to terrorise the neighbours. So why do this at the very moment when the political hardliners over the fence - their notional worst enemies - are able to profit from it? It LOOKS like extreme stupidity, but ... hmm.
I think (but cannot prove) that hamas quite likes having the hawks in power next door. I'm not suggesting any sort of conspiracy - I just think maybe hamas' business model (and it IS a business) is maybe being helped along up by having hardliners calling the shots on the borders.

No way. no way they're giving this guy ... this UGH! ... a soapbox Oliver North: "Incompetence, Malevolence, And Misfeasance Have Been Boundless" In Obama Administration mediamatters.org/video/2012/11/16/oliver-north-incompetence-malevolence-and-misfe/191444Yeah. You read that right. And the right claims it's the side of morals and character. Unbelievable. The next best I've seen recently is this human-turd main-chancer: pjmedia.com/mihaipacepa/bio/I've emailed and posted to PJM my disbelief that they would give this creep a job, let alone a soap-box. They don't seem to think it's a problem as long as he sings for his supper. Still ... I guess putin's got a rich career ahead of him in the US "conservative" media when he's done locking up punk girls and killing journalists. He just has to blame leftists and he's in like flynn.

I get the feeling that the libs are swinging to the right, and it's not an accident. A group of Liberal senators are planning to try to remove one of their leaders, chief opposition Senate whip Helen Kroger, and replace her with Senator Cory Bernardi as soon as Monday. Add to that tony abbot's declaration that he'll cut our refugee intake and his apparent decision to double-down on the "illegals" thing ... I wonder if they've decided that the way to go is to be MORE right-wing.
