Well it probably started with Bad Taste and Heavenly Creatures - rather weird teenage slash/horror movies based on a true stories and the latter giving Kate Winslet her first big-screen outing. Better than the current vampire trash, but not Oscar-worthy.
Then came Lord of the Rings. 'nuff said. He wrought film genius out of Kiwi land.
I thought King Kong was OK, Tintin is just what it says.
But now we have The Hobbit trilogy.
Looks good from the previews etc. And big names. But will it cement Jackson's reputation?
Personally I hope so.
He's doing a remake of Dambusters next.
Go for it Pete! - a true NZ global talent.

There's a silly debate going on about the high-frame rate version of The Hobbit. Some critics say it "looks too good" and too much like hi-res like digital TV.
What on earth are they talking about?
Always did think those damn talkies took all the fun out of watching in silence. And after colour came along things just went downhill from there.
