Been interesting looking at the media over the past week. The new narrative is that Julia needs to be rolled right now. And now it seems to be both Fairfax and News calling it.
The worst bit is that they seem to be trying to goad Rudd into another leadership challenge. Of course even if he doesn't challenge the media have their narrative. They hound Rudd to challenge, Rudd hoses it down and bang, he's accused of white anting Julia.
I'm surprised they havent started running "Isn't she looking tired" as a line yet.
Of course talk that Howard won after worse poll numbers back in the day has to be ignored, it's counter to the narrative.

Well the media got half of what they wanted today. The remaining media bills were quietly withdrawn.
With Julia getting 100% of the caucus vote we already know what the story tomorrow will be.
Will Rudd run again next week? How can Julia go on without the full support of her party? etc etc rewind rinse and repeat.

What a shambles. What a bunch of complete numbskulls. If there was any rational motive behind that show today, I'd love to know what it was.
I think the ALP needs to bring in some new blood. Get rid of the fixtures who're made no matter what happens. Start actually having a purpose. Then maybe I can vote for them again.

What will the mejaa have to talk about for the next six months?
And Fairfax can't even get the names right. "The Parliamentary Secretary for the Pacific Islands, Richard Mearles, also announced his resignation."
It's actually Richard Marles.

The media has already found their new narrative. Furious that Rudd didn't give them the narrative and result they wanted they've decided to go Rudd hard. See www.smh.com.au/opinion/political-news/and-the-winner-is-8230-abbott-20130321-2gizk.html for an example. Essentially Rudd should have run. This would have been awesome because it would have provided the media with the narrative that Rudd can't be trusted. That he is sneaky and two faced. That he destroyed the party. That an election should be called ASAP. Instead they're going with this. Rudd by constantly denying he would be disloyal to the PM and when the opportunity arose decided to stay loyal to the PM has destroyed the party. He has shown his sneakyness by being disloyal by being loyal. He has betrayed the ALP by sticking by what he said he would do. The call will be on him to stand down ASAP or for Gillard to get rid of him ASAP thus providing Abbott with the Prime Ministership by default. Fuck me. They really can't win can they.
