We all probably watch and enjoy nature programmes on TV (well I do). But have you had any interesting encounters with Aussie wildlife recently? This morning we found a fledgling Tawny Frogmouth chick cowering in the corner of our back garden, being mobbed by wretched Mynahs. His defence was to open his mouth as wide as possible - I assume a threat display. And pretty impressive as Frogmouths have huge mouths. We rescued him and were about to call WIRES (animal rescue) when I realised he must have fluttered down from a nearby nest, as we've seen Frogmouth adults in our garden before. So we gently picked him up off the ground and sat him on the fence, guarding him from the Mynah attacks. Sure enough the parents found him some time later and took him to safety. Makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside!
