I guess The Usual Suspects probably deserves a mention.

watch this.
The audio is rubbish. But it's been used since in an cinema ad for australian films, and in full stereo it kicks bottom.
Here's some better sound quality, but it gets cut off early
Bugger me, I think I'm going to have to get that on the blurayz. Mebbe it wasn't as crap as my cultural-cringe tells me it woz.
If anyone can find me the AFI advertisement which uses that song, I would be very much obliged. There were many film snippets used and, from memory, it ended with those lovely lasses from Picnic At Hanging Rock at the crescendo.
One has been looking for a while. One saw the advertisement once, and it brought a (genuinely) patriotic tear to one's eye. The music is gorgeous. It makes me thing of australian powquatsi.

In praise of Luc Besson.
Particularly Nikita, The Fifth Element, The Messenger (Joan of Arc) and Taxi.

Hey MoC - you've now become God! "Matthew Of Canberra God" Maybe a bit of a poisoned chalice in the light of recent events.

So, MoC is the one all those priests in their confessionals pray to to absolve the misdeeds of their confessees.
Even Pell!
Matthew, this is a serious responsibility. Are you duly prepared?

Getting back to films, Matthew's elevation to God reminds me of Bruce Almighty. Funny but flawed. Perhaps not the best outing for Morgan Freeman's talents.

To continue on the same theme, what's your nomination for the best portrayal of God in a movie?
My personal favourite is Ralph Richardson in Time Bandits.
Any advances?

One reason to vote for Ralph is that he was a motorbike fanatic and drove a Truimph Bonneville in his '70s.
Good enough for God to me.
