Interestingly an old naval term.
Apparently you could hoist false colours (flags from another country) but should show your true colours before firing. See the novels of Patrick O'Brian - one of the best reads of the 20th c.

"Black Horse" - Robert Wyatt on drums, Blue Mitchell on guitar? , Elton Dean on Sax.

Forgive me for being a bit elitist, but I've just managed to get Bach's The Art of Fugue performed by the brilliant Tatiana Nikolayeva. I heard a concert of hers in London in the 90's, not long before her death, and she is a legend.
There's a bit of a macabre mystery to the work as well. Contrapunctus XIV breaks off abruptly and according to Bach's son CPE, "At the point where the composer introduces the name BACH [for which the English notation would be B♭-A-C-B♮] in the countersubject to this fugue, the composer died."

"Rest in peace Dave Brubeck"
Like heck. He's compelled to spent eternity trying to improvise to an 11/3 beat!

I'm not probably taking this thread seriously, but here's a little musical contribution which will always have a place in my little mental wurlitzer:
As for what I actually LISTEN to, that varies. But I do rather like The Sundays
I think it's now been 15 years since they released any new songs, but I'm still hoping. This is their last hit, from 97
Harriet wheeler's got such a gorgeous voice, her hubby dave's a brilliant strummer and the lyrics are worth paying attention to.

There's too much horrible in the world this morning, so try some music as therapy. I was watching Wallander and there was a reference to music by Bellman. Bellman was an 18th c. mystical and sometimes bawdy Swedish poet and composer and has inspired much beautiful music across many genres. Here's an example by a namesake group which I had not heard before. It is beautiful. www.youtube.com/watch?v=QHYr9rd80jsBe at peace.

Al Bowlly was a great Greek/English singer who died mysteriously in a bombing raid on London in WW2. Here's his greatest hit "Love is the sweetest thing". www.youtube.com/watch?v=FgM3bntOlYc
